long overdue kiriban for
 . part 1 of 3 images. (hopefully i can finish the 2 others soon). she wanted me to draw the progeny of Bathala - the supreme creator in one of the Filipino myths. this one is the eldest, Apolaki, the warrior sun god. that thing he's holding is a splinter from the sun. it was supposed to be a spear, but, well, i dunno what happened, actually. and, obviously, i'm not a master of anatomy, so do be kind.  the style's inspired by Josef Engelhart's curious marquetry panels of several characters from the arthurian legends (now in the Osterreicher Museum für angelwandte Kunst). *note - so i was a total idiot and confused apolake with malari. dev name's been changed. damn insomnia attacks. |
